For the heat exchangers handled by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., it is necessary to consider the so-called gas-liquid two-phase flow phenomenon, which is a mixed flow of gas and liquid. Gas-liquid two-phase flow is accompanied by physical actions, such as phase change and interphase action force, which are not seen in single phase flow, and its prediction and evaluation are much more difficult than single phase flow. Therefore, we developed a two-phase flow analysis technology based on a two-fluid model to carry out the validation and design evaluation of these heat exchanger products. This paper presents an overview of the main points.
