The new "Kitakami," the latest RoPax ferry, was completed and delivered on January 20, 2019, and then brought into service, for the operating route between Sendai and Tomakomai. This ferry replaced the old "Kitakami" (total length 192.5 m, width 27.0 m, and gross tonnage 13,937 tons) that was completed in 1989. This report presents the new "Kitakami," which was designed on the concept of "Space Travel."
