There has been a limit to the expansion of organic rice cultivation because organic cultivation that does not use herbicides requires a huge amount of labor such as weeding. In response to the recent increasing consumer interest in food safety and security and growing needs for organic rice production from producers engaged in environmentally friendly agriculture and production of value-added crops, Mitsubishi Mahindra Agricultural Machinery Co., Ltd. developed and commercialized Mitsubishi Paper Mulch Rice Transplanter LKE60AD. The LKE60AD enhances work efficiency and labor saving by mechanizing organic rice production using recycled paper mulch cultivation.
