Wall-mounted Room Air Conditioner for Cold Regions with Non-stop Heating "SXK Series"

Heat pump air conditioners are highly efficient and have a heating capacity several times their power consumption. In addition, they are safe and secure due to not using a flame, so have been replacing heating equipment such as oil/gas heaters in cold regions in Japan. However, when the outside air temperature is low, the outdoor heat exchanger gets frosted during heating operation and the capacity decreases, so defrosting operation is required when needed. For ordinary defrosting operation, it is necessary to stop heating in order to send hot gas from the compressor to the outdoor heat exchanger, and the indoor temperature is reduced disadvantageously. Therefore, we have developed the SXK series wall-mounted room air conditioner for cold districts in Japan, which employs a hot gas bypass defrosting system that enables defrosting operation while continuing heating and is equipped with additional convenient functions for use in cold regions. This report presents the developed SXK series.
