    Approach for Realization of Merging Point Support System as Cooperative ITS

    A system for roadside infrastructures to support autonomous vehicles at expressway merging points is expected to be developed. The system senses vehicles moving on the driving lane of an expressway before a merging point and provides information on their behavior to autonomous vehicles that are going to merge. The purpose of this system is to support smooth merging of autonomous vehicles by accurately detecting the speed, gap, length, etc., of vehicles moving on the driving lane and providing information such as estimated time to reach the merging point, gap, length, etc., of the vehicles.
