A variety of turbomachines from large steam turbines for nuclear plants to small automotive turbochargers are being researched and developed in Turbomachinery Laboratory.
In order to improve the performance and reliability of these turbomachines, flow control techniques and loss mechanism are being studied using numerical simulation of actual internal flow and experimental techniques including cascade testing and flow measurement of high speed rotating wheels.
Application technologies of cryogenic fluids such as liquid hydrogen and liquid helium are being developed.
