Problems of energy supply and utilization have become increasingly important in resent years. We are faced not only with limited fossil fuel resourced but, in addition, a variety of energy related environmental issues. Of prime concern, is potential global warming caused by increasing atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide. The severty of this situation is expected to intensify as a result of population growth and economic development in developing countries.
As a result of this dilemma, our future research objectives must be balanced in an efforts to enhance energy supplies while maintgaining the quality of our global environment.
Some immediate technological goals include improvement of power plant efficiency and retrieval and reuse of carbon dioxide emissions.
