Development of IGCC Commercial Plant with Air-blown Gasifier

Takao Hashimoto, Koichi Sakamoto, Yuuichirou Kitagawa, Yoshinori Hyakutake, Norishige Setani

The development of integrated coal gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) power generation, a coal-based high-efficiency power generation system, and its commercialization with the capture and sequestration of the CO2 produced during electric power generation has received special attention. This will reduce CO2 emissions and prevent global warming while providing a stable energy supply. This paper reports on the development of a commercial IGCC plant and efforts to apply CO2 capture technology to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' (MHI's) IGCC.
