			<description><![CDATA[Tokyo, February 3, 2012 - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) will transfer its mechatronics system product business of the Transportation System & Advanced Technology Division to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Mechatronics Systems, Ltd. (MHI-MS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of MHI in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, effective April 1, 2012. Today MHI and MHI-MS signed an absorption-type company split agreement. The initiative aims to enhance efficiency of mechatoronics system product business and strengthen the capability to respond to customers by establishing a structure to handle the entire process from installation of equipment to after-sale services by integrating the various functions into MHI-MS.]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[APM System Begins Operation at Miami Int'l Airport]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[okyo, September 9, 2011 - The MIA Mover Automated People Mover (APM) system for Miami International Airport (MIA), which Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc.(MHIA), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), has been building, was completed and will begin operation on September 9 (U.S. time). The MIA Mover is two-kilometers long and runs between the stations at MIA and Miami Intermodal Center (MIC), an off-airport multi-modal transportation center. The trip takes approximately four minutes, replacing the previously existing bus service which passengers were using, and supports mobility of an ever-increasing number of passengers.]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[MHI Establishes Technology to Produce Biofuel Locally at Low Cost]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[Tokyo, April 21, 2011 - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has successfully established technology to produce ethanol for automobile fuel, satisfying the standards of the Japanese Automotive Standards Organization (JASO), from lignocellulose (soft cellulose) such as rice straw and barley straw. Verification of the technology has been conducted as a joint project involving the government, academia, and the agricultural and industrial sectors in Hyogo Prefecture, supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), to study effective utilization of lignocellulose. During the technological verification at a demonstration plant, the estimated fuel cost required for commercial-scale ethanol production was also confirmed to achieve the targeted goal. Going forward MHI will endeavor to develop the results of the project into early commercialization of bio-refinery technology in cooperation with companies and organizations concerned.]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[MHI Receives Order for Macau Light Rapid Transit (MLRT) Phase 1]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[Tokyo, March 3, 2011 - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), jointly with ITOCHU Corporation, has received an order from the Transportation Infrastructure Office (GIT) of Macau to supply rolling stock and E&M systems for Phase I of the Macau Light Rapid Transit (MLRT) system which the government of the Macau Special Administrative Region (SARG) of the People's Republic of China is building to enhance its transportation infrastructure. GIT and MHI signed the contract on March 3. MLRT Phase 1 plans call for a fully automated, driverless rubber-tired mass transit system - an automated people mover (APM) system – to connect Macau Peninsula and Taipa Island. The MLRT, an urban transportation system expected to contribute to relaxation of local traffic congestion as well as improvement of regional transportation, is slated for completion in February 2015.]]></description>

(MHI), Hakutsuru Sake Brewing Co., Ltd. and Kansai Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd. is about to launch continuous operation. The new facility, located at the Futami Plant of MHI's Kobe Shipyard & Machinery Works in Hyogo Prefecture, will produce ethanol for automobile fuel from soft cellulose vegetating in Hyogo: for example, rice straw and wheat straw. It will be Japan's first biofuel production facility capable of continuous preprocessing.]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[Dubai Metro Commences Operation:]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[Tokyo, September 10, 2009 - The Dubai Rapid Link (DURL), an international consortium including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), has completed the construction of Dubai Metro Red Line, a fully automated, driverless metro system, in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The system commenced operation on September 9 at 10 key stations. The other members of DURL include three Japanese companies - Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), Obayashi Corporation and Kajima Corporation - and Yapi Merkezi Insaat ve Sanayi A.S. of Turkey. The 53 kilometer-long Red Line (Phase I) runs between Dubai International Airport and Jebel Ali, a new area under development along the coast. The Dubai Metro is the first urban rail system in GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council).]]></description>

(MHI) has delivered two replacement steam generators (RSG), a core component of pressurized water reactor (PWR) nuclear power plants (NPP), for the Doel-1 NPP in Belgium operated by Electrabel GDF SUEZ, a leading European energy company. MHI received the order for the RSGs in February 2006 in line with the NPP's component renewal initiative. With the latest deliveries, MHI RSGs now account for over half of all SGs operated in Belgium - 10 of 19 at seven NPPs.]]></description>

(MHI), in cooperation with Sumitomo Corporation, has received an order to construct an automated people mover (APM) system for Miami International Airport (MIA) together with two American companies: Odebrecht Construction, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Construtora Norberto Odebrecht S.A., Brazil's largest general contractor; and Parsons Corporation, a leading U.S. consultant. The order is worth approximately 27.4 billion yen (US$260 million). The APM system is slated for completion in September 2011.]]></description>
