Lines, Ltd. to build a "Sayaendo" series new-generation liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier. Sayaendo series ships feature a unique structure that integrates the LNG tank cover with the ship hull, resulting in significantly improved fuel consumption and maintainability. From 2020 the new ship will be used mainly for transportation of LNG produced by the Ichthys LNG Project* in Australia for Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. and Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc.

The move is part of a corporate reform initiative now under way at MHI, and the anticipated merits in terms of standardization and sharing of business operations, organizational streamlining and enhancement of technological levels are targeted at strengthening MHI's IT infrastructure as the company steps up the pace of its globalization of business operations.

(MHI) and Chengxi Shipyard (Xinrong) Co., Ltd. in China have agreed to collaborate in the ship repair business through installation of ballast water treatment systems (BWTS). The two companies signed the agreement on April 26. For some time MHI has been seeking to expand its engineering business in China, while the Chinese shipyard has sought to strengthen its business by introducing advanced technologies in the field. The aims of the two companies have thus meshed in reaching the collaboration agreement. By combining MHI's advanced technologies accumulated from its abundant experience in ship conversion work, including BWTS installation, and Chengxi Shipyard (Xinrong)'s ability to respond to ship conversion needs and its cost competitiveness, the two companies look to establish an advantageous position in the global market in this field.

(Hitachi: TSE/6501) and Mitsubishi Corporation (MC: TSE/8058) today annouced that three companies launched operation of a demonstration system encompassing 200 electric vehicles (EV), 9 high-speed EV charging stations and an EV management center, as part of the Smart Community System Demonstration Project in Malaga, Spain in which the three companies are participating under consignment by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). The demonstration project, which will be conducted through March 2016, targets the establishment of a next-generation transportation infrastructure that is expected to enable significant reductions in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. MHI, Hitachi and MC will contribute to the project through provision of Japan's advanced technologies in transportation and power systems.

(MHI) has received an order for two vessels capable of three-dimensional (3D) seismic data acquisition for sea bottom resource exploration from Petroleum Geo-Services ASA (PGS), a leading company in marine seismic and reservoir data acquisition, processing and analysis/interpretation services in Norway. The contract was signed on April 25 in Tokyo. The order for the two vessels was placed upon exercise by PGS of the option right that was provided when two same type vessels were ordered to MHI in April 2011. The two newly ordered vessels are scheduled for delivery in the first and second half, respectively, of 2015. With this latest order, MHI will build a total of four vessels to support PGS's highly efficient deep water natural prospecting services.

			<title><![CDATA[MHI Completes Final Shipment of Turbine Rotors]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[Tokyo, April 25, 2013 - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has completed the shipment of 16 turbine rotors, consisting of 12 low-pressure and 4 high-pressure units, to nuclear power plants (NPP) in China that are the world's first to adopt the AP1000 reactor design. MHI received the orders for the NPP-use turbine generators, destined for Units No.1 and 2 of the Sanmen NPP and Units No.1 and 2 of the Haiyang NPP, in 2007 and 2008. MHI began production of the turbine rotors, core component of the turbine generators, in the autumn of 2009. The last turbine rotor shipped from MHI's Takasago Machinery Works was a low-pressure unit for the Sanmen NPP.
