Through synergistic merits from the surrounding displays of technologies and products, the company aims to foster a deeper understanding of how CSR activities are linked to business operations using explanations of specific company products that are actually contributing to resolving social issues.

			<title><![CDATA[MHI Supporting "Heart-full Soccer in Thailand"]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[Tokyo, April 24, 2013 - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) will serve as sponsor of a goodwill exchange to be undertaken by the Urawa Red Diamonds, a Japanese professional soccer team, in Thailand on April 30 and May 1. Support of this event, dubbed "Heart-full Soccer in Thailand," is being undertaken in conjunction with the company's initiatives to contribute to society as a way of carrying out its corporate social responsibility (CSR). It marks the fourth time MHI will be sponsoring Urawa Reds' "Heart-full Soccer" activities, following backing of similar events in Shanghai in 2007 and Singapore in 2008 and 2010. With these sponsorship initiatives the company aims to accelerate its global business expansion through the promotion, in tandem with Japan's overseas diplomatic missions, of undertakings closely linked to local communities.

			<title><![CDATA[MHI to Conduct Science Class on Wind Power Generation]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[Tokyo, November 28, 2012 - On December 4 Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) will conduct a science class by request at the Iwaki Municipal Onahama Dai-ichi Elementary School in Fukushima Prefecture as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. The class, to be offered to approximately 120 fifth and sixth graders, will provide the students with knowledge about the environment and energy resources, particularly wind power generation, and will include an introduction to MHI's initiatives in these areas. Iwaki City is host to a large-scale offshore wind farm demonstration research project, and by providing the local children with an opportunity to learn about wind power generation in detail, the company aims to promote understanding of this field among the local community.

(MHI) dedicated to office building services, invited children of a nearby nursery school for a sweet potato digging event on the rooftop garden of a company building in central Tokyo. The event, held to make a social contribution under the MHI group's CSR (corporate social responsibility) guidelines, provided the youngsters an opportunity to learn about environmental issues through a familiar and enjoyable activity, while simultaneously giving the company an opportunity to further promote interaction with its neighbors. The company has held a strawberry picking event in summer and a potato dig in autumn every year since November 2009. The latest occasion marked the seventh of its kind.

(MHI) is sponsoring performances of a charity musical in support of recovery from last year's Great East Japan Earthquake disaster. The musical, "Peter Pan and Wendy," will be performed by the Poplar Theater Company in two locations heavily impacted by the tsunami: Kesennuma City and Minamisanriku Township, both in Miyagi Prefecture. As part of MHI's corporate commitments to contribute to the disaster-affected region and to foster the development of the next generation, some 930 students and teachers from four local elementary schools will be invited to see the three scheduled musical performances.

(MHI), is offering a new menu featuring freshly picked organic vegetables grown at the restaurant. The vegetables are cultivated without pesticides or other agricultural chemicals in solar-powered "vegetable mini-factories." The endeavor, which is just one of the MHI group's many corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, aims to contribute to the environment and the wellbeing of the community. The mini- factory units make possible on-site cultivation and consumption of safe and healthful fresh vegetables. Tamachi Building is promoting the use of similar systems by other tenants in the rental office buildings it owns and manages.

MHI donated the system, which consists of tandem-type photovoltaic (PV) modules and peripheral equipment, to DOWACEN in accordance with the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, one theme of which is to support emerging countries through its products. The solar power generation system will provide electricity for classroom lighting and enable uninterrupted teaching even during power outages.

Domestic marketing of the new "GRENDiA EX Hybrid" models began today. By integrating a lithium-ion secondary battery developed in-house and high-efficiency motors with small-size, low-exhaust- emission diesel engines that comply with new emission regulations, the company has realized outstanding environment-friendly, fuel-efficient performance: approximately 39% greater fuel efficiency than the standard internal-combustion powered trucks. Initially the GRENDiA EX Hybrid will be available only in the domestic market.]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[Dubai Metro Commences Operation:]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[Tokyo, September 10, 2009 - The Dubai Rapid Link (DURL), an international consortium including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), has completed the construction of Dubai Metro Red Line, a fully automated, driverless metro system, in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The system commenced operation on September 9 at 10 key stations. The other members of DURL include three Japanese companies - Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), Obayashi Corporation and Kajima Corporation - and Yapi Merkezi Insaat ve Sanayi A.S. of Turkey. The 53 kilometer-long Red Line (Phase I) runs between Dubai International Airport and Jebel Ali, a new area under development along the coast. The Dubai Metro is the first urban rail system in GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council).]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[MHI to Enter Lithium-ion Secondary Battery Business]]></title>

(MHI) has decided to build a commercial production verification plant in Nagasaki Prefecture and launch its operation by autumn 2010 in a move toward the company's full-scale entry into the lithium-ion secondary battery market. The new plant, to be built within the company's Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works, will have a production capacity of 66 MWh (megawatt hours) of batteries a year, which is equivalent to 400,000 medium-size cells. The batteries were developed in a 20-year-long joint research and development project with Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc.]]></description>
