			<title><![CDATA[Tamachi Building Co. Invites Kindergarten Children to Potato Dig]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[Tokyo, October 24, 2011 - Tamachi Building Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) dedicated to office building services, invited children of a nearby kindergarten for a sweet potato digging event on the rooftop garden of a company building in central Tokyo. The event, held to make a social contribution under the MHI group's CSR (corporate social responsibility) guidelines, provided the youngsters an opportunity to learn about environmental issues through a familiar and enjoyable activity. The occasion marked the third potato dig to date and the fifth event of this kind, also including two strawberry picking events held in early summer. As the potato dig was also attended by people from the local community, it enabled the company to further promote exchanges with its neighbors.]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[Completion of Solar Power Generation System Donated by MHI]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[Tokyo, December 17, 2010 - On December 17 a ceremony to celebrate the completion of a solar power generation system donated by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) took place at the Dong Anh-Okinawa Economic and Cultural Exchange Center (DOWACEN) in Hanoi, a facility that also provides Japanese language teaching. MHI donated the system, which consists of tandem-type photovoltaic (PV) modules and peripheral equipment, to DOWACEN in accordance with the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, one theme of which is to support emerging countries through its products. The solar power generation system will provide electricity for classroom lighting and enable uninterrupted teaching even during power outages.

			<description><![CDATA[Tokyo, October 5, 2009 - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has developed the world's first*1 engine/battery hybrid forklift trucks with 4.0 to 5.0 ton rated capacities. Domestic marketing of the new "GRENDiA EX Hybrid" models began today. By integrating a lithium-ion secondary battery developed in-house and high-efficiency motors with small-size, low-exhaust- emission diesel engines that comply with new emission regulations, the company has realized outstanding environment-friendly, fuel-efficient performance: approximately 39% greater fuel efficiency than the standard internal-combustion powered trucks. Initially the GRENDiA EX Hybrid will be available only in the domestic market.]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[Dubai Metro Commences Operation:]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[Tokyo, September 10, 2009 - The Dubai Rapid Link (DURL), an international consortium including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), has completed the construction of Dubai Metro Red Line, a fully automated, driverless metro system, in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The system commenced operation on September 9 at 10 key stations. The other members of DURL include three Japanese companies - Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), Obayashi Corporation and Kajima Corporation - and Yapi Merkezi Insaat ve Sanayi A.S. of Turkey. The 53 kilometer-long Red Line (Phase I) runs between Dubai International Airport and Jebel Ali, a new area under development along the coast. The Dubai Metro is the first urban rail system in GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council).]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[MHI to Enter Lithium-ion Secondary Battery Business]]></title>

(MHI) has decided to build a commercial production verification plant in Nagasaki Prefecture and launch its operation by autumn 2010 in a move toward the company's full-scale entry into the lithium-ion secondary battery market. The new plant, to be built within the company's Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works, will have a production capacity of 66 MWh (megawatt hours) of batteries a year, which is equivalent to 400,000 medium-size cells. The batteries were developed in a 20-year-long joint research and development project with Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc.]]></description>

The new plant mainly produces cartridges, the core portion of turbochargers, and plays an important role in the company's global production and supply structure. With the addition of the new Thai plant, complementing production bases in Japan and the Netherlands, MHI brings to completion an optimum production and procurement system based on a tripolar global structure encompassing Japan, Europe and Asia. 			<title><![CDATA[MHI Markets LED-UV Drying System ]]></title>

(MHI) has today begun marketing an LED-UV (ultraviolet ray) ink-drying system using light-emitting diodes (LED) which enables significant energy saving in printing. The system, which MHI has commercialized, leveraging its know-how as a leading printing machinery manufacturer, is suitable for installation on larger sized (DIAMOND V3000 Series) sheet-fed presses that can accommodate sheets up to 1,050mm (41-11/32 inches) wide. It is also installable on tandem perfector offset presses which are capable of one-pass printing of front and reverse sides of sheets without sheet tumbling. The LED-UV system will enable significant reductions of 70 to 80% in electricity consumption, compared with UV ink-drying systems that use UV lamps. ]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[MHI Begins Trial Operation of Global ETC in Malaysia]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[Tokyo, May 27, 2009 - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), in cooperation with Mitsubishi Corporation, began the trial operation of an electronic toll collection (ETC) system on a highway in Malaysia. ETC enables collection of road tolls without requiring vehicles to stop at tollgates. The trial was launched with support from the Malaysian government, which is considering upgrading its existing ETC system to a multi-lane free flow (MLFF) type in order to ease traffic congestion. This is the first overseas application of technology based on current Japanese ETC standards. The trial operation will be conducted until the end of this year. MHI is confident to win a contract to upgrade Malaysia’s existing ETC system based on the trial operation results and leveraging its track record.]]></description>
