First M701F4 Gas Turbine Begins Trial Operation in Sendai No.4, Japan

First M701F4 gas turbine of the latest and advanced machine for 50Hz application, developed by MHI, has been started trial operation at Sendai Thermal Power Station Unit No.4 of Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. in Japan on schedule.

First firing was conducted on February 10, 2010 and then FSNL operation was achieved. Start-up ceremony was held on February 18, 2010 with attendance of the persons concerned. This plant is a high efficiency single shaft combined-cycle power plant on LNG firing with 446MW power output. The first synchronization to the grid was to replace on March,2010, then commercial operation will be scheduled on July, 2010. The advanced M701F4 gas turbine will contribute to worldwide issues growing up energy and reducing CO2 emission.
