Completion of Fuel Conversion Alteration Work on the No. 1 and 5 Boilers
at Kashima-Kita Electric Power Corporation

Kashima-Kita Electric Power Corporation held a ceremony to celebrate the completion of reconstruction of the No.1 & 5 boilers implemented by MHI on July 14, 2009.

The work including reconstruction of boiler tubes, boilers mills and denitrification equipment allows to change from liquid fuels such as heavy oil and VRO to solid fuel such as inexpensive petroleum coke.
This fuel conversion alteration work makes it possible for the Kashima-Kita Electric Power Corporation to substantially reduce its operation costs.
