Chugoku Electric Power Mizushima Power Station Unit No.1
Starts Commercial Operation

On April 8, 2009, The Chugoku Electric Power Co.,Inc. Mizushima Power Station unit No.1 began commercial operation. This power facility installed a new MHI M501F3 1400°C class large capacity gas turbine, utilizing the existing steam turbine (Hitachi) for a 285MW output natural gas fired high efficiency gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plant.

This facility was a 125MW output coal fired power plant which began commercial operation in 1961, but this time, it converts fuel from coal to natural gas adopting a GTCC power plant type, for a clean facility which suppresses generation of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, sulfur oxide, soot and dust. It is expected to operate as a main power plant of The Chugoku Electric Power Co.,Inc.
