Xcel Energy High Bridge Plant is completed delivery in the United States
Xcel Energy High Bridge Plant in Minnesota State is a power generation plant developed by Xcel Energy as an air pollutant reduction project. The contract became effective in July 2005, with MPSA (Mitsubishi Power Systems, America), the business base for MHI’s power systems operation in the US, and MHI and MPSA cooperated to properly complete delivery.
This power plant completely replaces an old 270MW coal fired thermal power plant located beside the Mississippi River, with the latest technology natural gas fired gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plant (total output 570MW) built on the same site. This will greatly reduce sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, and other air pollutants. This GTCC plant is comprised of two M501F gas turbines and one steam turbine (2 on 1 configuration). MHI’s clean power technologies are contributing not only to stable supply of electricity, but also to global warming prevention and cleaner air.
