Thailand’s Ratchaburi Power Company Ltd. starts commercial operation of
gas turbine combined cycle power plant Block 2

Ratchaburi Power Company Limited, an independent power producer in Thailand, started commercial operation of its gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plant Block 2 on June 1, 2008.
The order for this plant was jointly received by MHI, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Thailand’s Shino-Thai Engineering & Construction Public Company Limited. This full turnkey project provides a gas/oil dual fired GTCC power plant (700MW output), comprised of two blocks.

Block 1 was emerged on February 14, 2006 (the date for Notice to Proceed issued), and started operation 24.5 months later on March 1 this year. Following on that, the final Block 2 was completely delivered as scheduled, and started commercial operation on June 1.
After the start of operation, its continued stable high operating rate is helping to meet Thailand’s power demands.

Including the start of operations at Block 2, MHI has delivered over 12GW of power plants to Thailand, about 40% of Thailand’s domestic power generation.
