Commercial operations begins on Block 1 of the GTCC power plant for
Ratchaburi Power Company Limited in Thailand

Block 1 of the gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plant for Ratchaburi Power Company Ltd, a Thai Independent Power Producer (IPP), launched its commercial operations on March 1, 2008.

This plant is a full turn-key project which jointly awarded to MHI, Mitsubishi Corporation and Sino-Thai Engineering & Construction Public Company Limited from Thailand. It consists of two blocks of gas and oil dual fired 700MW GTCC power plant.
MHI supplied the core facilities of the power plant including gas turbines, steam turbines and heat recovery steam generators while also orchestrating the overall project. Mitsubishi Electric is in charge of electrical generators and a 500kV switching station. Sino- Thai is handling the civil, structural and construction work.

The commercial operations for Block 1 was met as per target date on March 1, 2008 despite the exceptionally short delivery and construction period of 24.5 months from Notice-to Proceed order issued on February, 14 2006. This project is contributing to meet the Thailand’s increasing electricity demand. Block 2 of this project is schedule to enter into commercial operations on June 1, 2008.
MHI has awarded a long term service agreement (LTSA) with the plant and thereby contributing to the stability of electricity supply to the development of Thailand.
