Huntstown Phase II gas turbine combined cycle power plant in Ireland, is completed
On October 2, 2007, Huntstown Phase II gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power generation plant in Ireland, was completed and handed over to be the customer, Viridain Group Limited.
With a dual gas/oil-fired single shaft GTCC plant that uses MHI's 701F gas turbine and SRT48 steam turbine, the plant has a generating output of 401.1MW (288.2MW distillate oil-fired).
This project represents the first full-turnkey order that the Mitsubishi Corporation has received in Europe, hiring Shanahan Engineering, which has its head office in Ireland, for the on-site construction work. In completing the project, MHI benefited from Shanahan's local knowledge, experience and project management capabirities operating in Ireland.
By commencing operation on schedule, and in time for the planned opening of the Single Electricity Market, Huntstown Phase II is attracting a great deal of attention as part of a modern high efficiency power plant capable of meeting approximately one-fifth of Ireland's demand for power. Now that commercial operation has begun, MHI will contribute to the stable supply of power in the years ahead, through careful management of the maintenance of the plant based working with the owners through a long-term service agreement (LTSA).
