MHI consigns manufacture of marine, low speed diesel engines to Diesel United

In December of last year MHI and Diesel United, Ltd. (DU), a wholly-owned subsidiary of IHI Corporation, agreed to a business partnership over marine, low speed diesel engines and have advanced cooperation. Recently, MHI has officially decided that it would consign the manufacture of four diesel engines ordered from an overseas shipyard to DU.

It was decided that the manufacture of the Mitsubishi UE marine, low speed diesel engine 6UEC50LSII (11,220PS x 124rpm) would be consigned, with plans for the engines to be produced at DU's Aioi Works (Aioi City, Hyogo Prefecture) and sequentially supplied beginning from December 2008.
