Handover of blast furnace gas fired gas turbine combined cycle power plant is completed in China
The handover of the 150MW blast furnace gas fired gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plant for Maanshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd (Maanshan City, Anhui Province) was completed on September 28, 2007, and has begun commercial operations.
Among the blast furnace gas fired GTCC for which MHI has received orders from China, this is the first one which uses the M701S DA-type gas turbine. MHI supplied the main components such as the gas turbine, gas compressor, and steam turbine, with the client being responsible for related parts, including the condenser and HRSG.
MHI has received orders for a total of eight projects, 13 blast furnace gas-fired power generation facilities in China so far. The start-up of commercial operations of the GTCC for Maanshan Iron & Steel means that seven of those are now in operation. The handover shows that this technology is both ecological and economical, and it is hoped that MHI's blast furnace gas-fired GTCC technology will attract an increasing amount of attention in the future.
