MHI receives an order for steam turbine power generation systems for Cairo West power station of CEPC, Egypt

MHI jointly with Toyota Tsusho Corporation, has received an order from Cairo Electricity Production Company (CEPC) of Egypt for two steam turbine power generation systems. The natural gas/heavy-oil fired steam turbine power generation equipment on order will be added to CEPC's existing Cairo West Power Station for supply of electricity to Cairo's metropolitan area to meet robust demand. The two units are slated to go on-stream in July and October 2010, respectively.

The 700 MW power generation equipment on order consists of two 350 MW steam turbines, two boilers, two generators and auxiliary equipment. MHI will be responsible for manufacturing and installing the steam turbines. Power Generation Engineering & Services Company (PGESCo), a power plant engineering and consulting company in Egypt, will be responsible for boilers, electrical equipment and civil work.
