Training simulator for J-POWER Wakamatsu Thermal Power Training Center is completed

Replacement of the once-through type plant training simulator installed at Electric Power Development Co., Ltd.(J-Power) Wakamatsu Thermal Power Training Center was completed on May 31, and is being used as training equipment in the company. This simulates J-POWER's Matsushima Thermal Power Station Unit No. 1 (500MW, fixed pressure once-through type), Takehara Thermal Power Station Unit No. 3 (700MW, fixed pressure once-through type), and Ishikawa Coal-Fired Power Station Unit No. 1 (156MW, variable pressure once-through type). Thus full replica type training can be done for operation, feeling similar to actual equipment.
One simulator can be used for the above mentioned three plants by switching software.

MHI began making the simulator after receiving the order in October 2005, and worked together with operators of each power station to adjust it for behavior of plant operation and malfunctions. The precise plant models of MHI were used to create a simulator exhibiting behavior which is the same as actual plants.
This simulator features CRT operation used for handling responses to malfunctions, to simulate the actual site. It duplicated the actual site faithfully, and operation can be made as if actual equipment were operated, enabling training which feels like being on site. The system also has advanced functions enabling operation instructors to know details of trainee operations in real time, which is utilized to pass on techniques on operation and control, and applied for operating technique evaluation test.
