Delivery of BFG fired gas turbine combined cycle plant to Anshan Iron and Steel in China is completed
Delivery to China's Anshan Iron and Steel of one blast-furnace-gas (BFG) fired single shaft gas turbine combined cycle plant (GTCC) 300MW was completed on May 10, 2007. This is the world's largest class BFG GTCC. It is MHI's first order received from China for a BFG GTCC using the M701S(F) type gas turbine. For this plant, MHI was responsible for the major equipment of the power train section (FOB contract), and the customer was responsible for the condenser, and all bottoming related equipment including HRSG.
Also, this plant is built in an extremely cold region with average monthly winter temperature lows of -15.7°C, so it is equipped with an intake air heater which uses steam to heat the gas turbine air intake, for protection against compressor surges and to suppress combustion turbulence during periods of extremely low atmospheric temperatures.
Operating this equipment will achieve effective use of surplus gas generated in the expanded blast furnace section, and secure stable electric power, greatly contributing to energy efficiency and environmental conservation. Currently, as the next period's project for Anshan Iron and Steel, a BFG GTCC using the M701S(DA) type gas turbine is under construction in Yingkou district.
