MHI license 1,000kW wind turbine technology to Ningxia Electric Power Group affiliate, China

MHI has concluded a license agreement to provide the technology for wind turbine to Wuzhong Instrument Co., Ltd., a group company of the Chinese power company, the Ningxia Electric Power Group.
The technology being licensed is for the manufacture of the MWT-1000A wind turbine, which has a rotor diameter of 61.4m and a rated power output of 1,000kW. The agreement accommodates the needs of both companies: the Chinese company has wanted high-performance wind turbine technology to accommodate an insatiable demand for electricity and to address environmental concerns; and MHI has sought a foothold into China's rapidly growing market for wind turbines.
Taking the opportunity of this cooperative relationship, MHI will work even more aggressively to expand its business activities in China, as it develops into the world's leading market for wind power generation.
