MHI receives successive GTCC orders from Korea Western Power and Korea District Heating

MHI has received successive orders for gas turbine combined-cycle (GTCC) power generation systems from Korea Western Power Co., Ltd. (KOWEPO) and Korea District Heating Corporation (KDHC). The two orders are respectively for KOWEPO's Gunsan power station and KDHC's Paju combined heat and power plant. Both systems are scheduled to go on-stream in November 2009.

The gas turbines MHI will supply to the KOWEPO plant are its M501G, a high-efficiency, large- size advanced gas turbine. The order represents the first introduction of the M501G into Korea.
Upon completion, the 750MW Gunsan GTCC power plant will provide the highest level of power generation efficiency in Korea. The gas turbines for KDHC's Paju plant are the M501F. Upon completion, the 515MW Paju combined heat and power plant will realize the highest level of thermal efficiency in Korea.
