Demonstration of a 2,400kW new-type wind turbine empirical facility was held as the mass media news release and announcement party was consecutively held

On the 25th of January, at the Kanazawa Plant of MHI's Yokohama Works invited mass media, including newspapers, magazines and TV stations, to view the new MWT92/2.4 wind turbine technology empirical facility (2,400kW).
In addition, on the 22nd of February, this facility was also opened for viewing by wind-generated power producer personnel and wind-power generation facility-related construction organization personnel.
Both occasions were blessed with good weather and all visitors were able to get a good view of the revolving 44.7meter blades.

Many of the mass media companies are not yet accustomed to seeing large-scale wind turbines in the Tokyo area and many questions were asked about how express in words and visuals the huge size and powerful appearance of this equipment. Power-industry visitors expressed their high expectations for MWT92/2.4.
These are the largest wind turbines in Japan and are located right on the edge of the bay in the international city of Yokohama where they are rapidly becoming a new landmark, attracting much attention. The basic objective of the site is to carry out the necessary field performance testing for meeting the needs and expectations of the wind power generating industry and, by further developing and demonstration, carefully validating the reliability of this equipment on site in an actual Japanese operating environment.
