Handover of Tuas Stage II Combined Cycle Power Plant Block 3 in Singapore

On July 3, 2005, Combined Cycle Power Plant Block 3 (rated output: 359.4 MW), built in the Tuas South area, western Singapore, was handed over to Tuas Power Ltd, following the successful completion of performance tests and a thirty-day reliability test run.
MHI supplied all of the equipment including the gas turbine, steam turbine and the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), and also conducted the civil and installation work, as part of a full turnkey contract.

Since the introduction of the Singapore Electricity Pool (SEP), electricity companies in Singapore have been promoting the adoption of high-efficiency, combined cycle power generation systems to reduce power generation costs.
Block 4 is to be completed shortly after Block 3, and together with the existing Blocks 1 and 2, which were handed over in 2001/2002, they will become one of the largest power plants in Singapore.
Tuas Combined Cycle Plant Blocks 1 to 4 will fulfill a long-felt demand in the Singapore electricity market for greater capacity and higher operating efficiency of the power plant.
