In California, on 28 December, 2004, MHI handed over the 60 - MW Oasis wind turbine generating facility, which had been requisitioned by the U.S. company, enXco, Inc. Sixty MHI MWT-1000 wind turbines were delivered to the Mojave region of California. The requisition was linked to the favorable assessment that MHI's wind power generating performance had received in the U.S., from the 727 wind turbines already supplied to the region. The wind turbines were supplied after their components had been separately manufactured. Mitsubishi Power System, Inc. was the contract nominee, and made the nacelles were made at MHI's Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works; the blades were made by VienTek, LLC., a joint venture between Mitsubishi Power System, Inc. and TPI Composites, Inc.; and the towers were made by an American manufacturer. Handover was completed according to the contracted scheduled, and operations are continuing smoothly even now. Electricity produced by these wind turbine generators is contributing to the electricity supply of California.
