MHI completes rehabilitation & modernization work for unit No.4 of General Manuel Alvarez Moreno (Manzanillo) Thermal Power Plant in Mexico |

MHI has received a Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC) from Mexico's utility, Comision Federal de Electricidad for the completion of rehabilitation & modernization work of unit No.4 of the General Manuel Alvarez Moreno (Manzanillo) Thermal Power Plant.
In the work, it is included that the replacement of pressure parts of the boiler, the installation of fans, and the replacement of the existing plant control system to DIASYS Netmation, in order to achieve the improvement of reliability and life extension of the existing plant.
General Manuel Alvarez Moreno Thermal Power Plant is located in the city of Manzanillo, Colima State, which lies on the Pacific coast about 600 km west of Mexico City. Originally MHI supplied the boiler and steam turbine for the power station, which was constructed between 1982 and 1984.
In September 2003, MHI received a full turnkey (from design to trial operation) contract of the replacement of pressure parts of the boiler, the installation of fans, and the replacement of the existing plant control system to DIASYS Netmation for the both of Units No. 3 and No. 4, which aims to achieve the life extension by replacing the deteriorated parts and improvement the reliability by re-designing & modernizing of boiler and instrument & control system.
After the rehabilitation work, the rated load and guaranteed performance levels have accomplished successfully at Unit No. 4 and the handover was completed on schedule in May 2005. Following on from the completion on Unit 4, the work for Unit No.3 is also progressing on schedule towards the completion, scheduled in December 2005.
