Kashima-Kita Electric Power Corp., Kashima-Kita Kyodo M4 Turbine begins commercial operation

From December 1, 2004, the Kashima-Kita Kyodo Power Station (Kamisu, Kashima-gun, Ibaragi Prefecture) decompression-type M4 Turbine power generator began commercial operations. This facility, in order to meet the demand for high pressure steam as well (4.02 MPa abs), is a backpressure turbine power-generation facility (7,100 kW) and in order to achieve overall operating efficiency for the entire facility, will become a power-generating facility. In order for the Kashima Kita Electric Power Corp. to supply both electric power and steam, the company was built as a cooperatively owned and operated industrial electrical power company and is one of the largest private-industry owned facilities of this type in Japan. The facility has contributed to MHI's reputation for high-level technology-related abilities and MHI products are used for all of the main parts of this facility.
