From December 1, 2004, the Kashima-Kita Kyodo Power Station
(Kamisu, Kashima-gun, Ibaragi Prefecture) decompression-type M4 Turbine power
generator began commercial operations. This facility, in order to meet the demand
for high pressure steam as well (4.02 MPa abs), is a backpressure turbine power-generation
facility (7,100 kW) and in order to achieve overall operating efficiency for the
entire facility, will become a power-generating facility. In order for the Kashima
Kita Electric Power Corp. to supply both electric power and steam, the company
was built as a cooperatively owned and operated industrial electrical power company
and is one of the largest private-industry owned facilities of this type in Japan.
The facility has contributed to MHI's reputation for high-level technology-related
abilities and MHI products are used for all of the main parts of this facility.
