Delivery of fluid bed combustion boiler continued firing biomass and cut tires as main fuels

MHI completed the construction and delivery of biomass boiler power generation equipment for Nagoya Pulp Corporation at the end of April 2004 and for Mitsubishi Paper Mills Limited at the beginning of July 2004.
The biomass boilers in this power generation equipment are the fluid bed combustion type boilers, which can burn biomass fuel and cut tires without having to remove the bead wires.
New technology has been adopted to enable the continuous discharge of foreign substances and wires in fuel from the bottom of the bed as well as low environmental pollution combustion technology using the M-STAR method (Mitsubishi Multi-Stage Air Re-Firing Method).
As to the biomass boiler of Nagoya Pulp Corporation, a system is applied enable to control the whole factory by taking advantage of MHI technology, which works with many power generation plants.
Furthermore, the application of high temperature and high-pressure steam conditions (12.65 MPag x 541 degree-C), make this fluid bed combustion type the highest class of its kind in Japan.
The technology achieves highly-efficient power-generation and is environmentally friendly.
As to the biomass boiler of Mitsubishi Paper Mills Limited, the main fuel is cut tires that have not had the bead wires removed.
They provide about 75 % of the total fuel heat input.
Stable operations have been maintained throughout the test run period.
