MHI has received an order from Taiwan Power Company (TPC) for
its Taichung Power Station unit No.5 through No.8 (550 MW x 4 units) boilers'
mill (*) replacement.
The replacement work ordered this time is meant to replace the pulverized coal
separator of the existing mill (made by B&W Canada. delivered around 1995
through 1997.) by our Mitsubishi Rotary Separator II (MRS II), and is planned
to be delivered starting from June, 2005 unit by unit.
The MRS II has been developed by MHI as a proprietary separator having both the
characteristics of a fixed vane type and a rotating vane type. This special feature
enables the equipment not only to select the size of pulverized coal more flexibly,
but it also achieves higher coal pulverization quality without increasing power
requirement caused by over grinding.
As awareness for provision concerning the environment is increasing, we believe
this kind of demand will remain at a high level from now and onward. Boosted up
by this order, MHI will actively develop our sales activity.
