Seto Windhill Power Generation Facility - Operating performance |
|
Seto Windhill Power Generation Facility was jointly established by MHI and the town of Seto-cho in Ehime Prefecture. It comprises eleven 1,000 kW turbines. Operations began in October 2003. The table below shows operating performance from the opening of the facility through March 2004.
While these results do reflect the fall/winter period when wind conditions are comparatively good, performance has exceeded our original forecasts by over 10%. In December, gusts of over of 40 m/sec were recorded. On these occasions, the turbines shut down safely and also succeeded in restarting once operational conditions were reestablished. This success proves that the facilities are capable of dealing with Japan's complex wind conditions without difficulty. We will soon carry out the first regular inspection of the turbines, and continue to work towards further increases in usage and productivity ratios.
