On March 31st, Kinden Corporation successfully completed installation of a 2000kW wind turbine, constructed by MHI, on Awaji-shima island. 2,000 kW turbines are the most powerful class of wind turbine currently in use in Japan. Hotel New Awaji (operated Hotel New Awaji Plaza Awajishima located at the southern tip of the island) ordered the turbine from Kinden Corporation, who commissioned the turbine construction to MHI. Following on from the wind turbine supplied to the Okinawa New Energy Development Co.,INC this project represents the second installation of a 2000kW turbine constructed by MHI, and the first for commercial use.
