MHI completes fourth steam power plant-CTE4 for COMPANHIA SIDERURGICA DE TUBARAO in Brazil

On February 3rd, MHI formally provided a fourthsteam power plant-CTE4 for COMPANHIA SIDERURGICA DE TUBARAO hierein after called "CST" in the town of Vitoria on the Brazilian coast. Construction was completed over a short period of only 20.5 months, in line with the terms of the contract. MHI had previously supplied the company with two power generation units which began operation in 1983, and a third unit which began operation in 1998. The full-turn key contract for the fourth privately-owned facility demonstrated CST favorable evaluation of MHI's past record. As fuel, the facility uses various by-product gases from the steelworks, including gas from blast furnaces, coke-ovens and steel-converters. Together with the existing units, the new unit will contribute to providing the steelworks with a stable electric power supply.

Principal steam flow rate : 243,000 kg/h
Principal steam pressure : 103 kh/cm2 g (at super-heater exhaust)
Principal steam temperature : 43°C(at super-heater exhaust)
