MHI has received an order for four sets of major components for ultra-supercritical boilers, each having a power-generation capacity of 1,000 MW, from Harbin Boiler Co., Ltd. (Harbin Boiler) of China. The Company, located in Harbin city in Heilongjiang province, is one of China's three largest boiler manufacturers. The delivery of components will begin in March 2005.
MHI won the order for the ultra-supercritical boiler installations based on Harbin Boiler's high evaluation of MHI's outstanding technological capabilities in this area. MHI will supply the core components, while Harbin Boiler will manufacture the remaining equipments, assemble and deliver the boilers to Huaneng Power International, Inc., the end user. The power station is to be Yuhuan in Zhejiang province. Yuhuan thermal power generation facility will be the first ultra-supercritical facility in that country.

Today China is addressing growing concern over environmental issues, especially increased CO2, by pursuing emission reductions through employment of more efficient and higher-capacity power stations. MHI, in light of its record to date, now expects expanding business opportunities in the fields of ultra-supercritical and supercritical equipment going forward.
