MHI awarded a contract for a 30 MW geothermal power plant from Reykjavik Energy in Iceland

Reykjavik Energy awarded MHI, with Mitsubishi Corporation (UK), a contract for the provision of one additional 30MW geothermal condensing turbine generator unit, including installation.
The plant will be built at the Nesjavellir geothermal power plant in the Nesjavellir geothermal area of neighboring city of Reykjavik. MHI will manufacture and supply one steam turbine and other necessary auxiliary equipment. Mitsubishi Electric Corp. will manufacture and supply one generator. This new plant is scheduled for operation by the forth quarter of 2005.
This additional 30MW geothermal unit is identical with the previous three units which have already been supplied by MHI in the Nesjavellir Geothermal Power Plant.
The total capacity of the geothermal power plants, including this unit which MHI has geothermal unit supplied by MHI is predicted to be closer to 80% of the total capacity of geothermal power plants in Iceland.
