MHI was awarded a contract from Veracel Celulose S/A in Brazil for a 125MW turbine plant

MHI, in collaboration with Mitsubishi Corporation, was awarded by Veracel Celulose S/A a contract for a the turbine plant (1 x 125 MW) for their new green field pulp mill. VERACEL is a 50/50 joint venture that exists between Stora Enso of Sweden and Finland and Aracruz S/A of Brazil. The aforementioned party is the world's major paper producer, and the following is the world's largest hardwood market pulp producer.
This mill will be located in the Bahia State of Brazil, and the turbine plant, to be supplied by MHI including erection and civil work, will be utilized for power generation of internal
electricity in the pulp mill. Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will supply the generator equipment. The plant is scheduled to be taken over in July 2003, followed by commercial operations.
