Coal-firing capacity increasing work is completed at the Nakoso power station No. 7 boiler of Joban Joint Power

MHI has completed and delivered the No. 7 boiler (250 MW) for the Joban Joint Power Co., Ltd. Nakoso power station for increasing coal-firing capacity. The content of the revamping of this facility includes use of a bag filter system in the after chamber of EP, the first of its kind to be used in Japan, A-PM (Advance Pollution Minimum) burners with an angle adjustment mechanism feature, desulfurizing device injecting calcium carbonate to a boiler furnace and IDF modification. This revamping will greatly lower the amount of SOx, NOx and particulate matter generated by the increase in coal firing. Even in summer, during the most difficult period, it has been confirmed that it is possible to meet standards for protecting the environment. Furthermore, three additional coal pulverizing mills are being added to the No. 8 boiler (600 MW) and by the end of December of this year, this boiler will become completely coal firing one and, as is similar to No. 7, will start to contribute to lowering the unit cost of electric power.
