MHI has received an order from the CFE (Comision Federal de Eleclicidad) for the rehabilitation of boilers and the modernization of the control & instrumentation systems for units No. 3 and No. 4 (two oil-fired boilers with rated capacities of 300 MW each) at the Manzanillo I thermal power plant located in the state of Colima in midwest of Mexico, to which MHI has delivered boilers and steam turbines in 1982 and 1984 respectively.

In principal, the project consists of (1) replacement of pressure parts of boilers and (2) update of the existing auxiliary equipments, because power plant is suffering from the deficient of rated output, due to the deterioration of the equipments.
Through this revamping, power output will be recovered toward the rated output (300 MW).
The project also includes update of the plant's control system to MHI's leading-edge system named DIASYS NETMATION, thereby improving the convenience of operating and maintaining the power plant.

The order was received under full turnkey base, including design, manufacture, installation and trial runs. The programmed completion date of the rehabilitation of the No.4 unit and No.3 unit are in May 2005 and in December 2005 respectively.
