An International Certificate was awarded at the beginning of May, 2003 to MHI by TÜV Rheinland Product Safety GmbH for promotion of its thin film photovoltaic (PV) module, MA100, in the European market. The MA100 has the same electrical specifications (maximum power, voltage, current, etc.) as the MA100T0 (2002 version), but its mechanical strength is increased largely to withstand heavy snow loads in the snowy district.
The MA100 has successfully cleared all tests for IEC61646(Thin-film terrestrial photovoltaic modules - Design qualification and type approval), IEC 61345(UV test for photovoltaic modules) and safety standards (Safety Class II working equipment) to be required for TÜV approval, evincing that MHI's technology has officially been approved by the third-party organization acceptable to the world market. In addition to the above certification, our Isahaya plant in Nagasaki, Japan, which is in charge of manufacturing PV modules, was also accepted by DET NORSKE VERITAS in the middle of April 2003, as an ISO9001-certified factory.
PV modules, which were placed into market in October 2002, are rather new to MHI. However, with the encouraging certificate fully acknowledging that our products come up to international standards MHI will promote our solar business not only at home and abroad. |
