Tuxpan #3 & #4 power start commercial operation

The Tuxpan #3 & #4 power generating systems plant, the fourth combine-cycle power plant constructed on an EPC basis by MHI, successfully started commercial operation on May 27,2003, one week ahead of the contracted date.
The plant generates almost 1,000 MW, using a two-block 2-on-1 configuration. In this plant, four sets of up-rated M501F gas turbines, two sets of steam turbines and four sets of HRSGs (heat recovery steam generators) with higher than conventional performance levels and that have been proven to have low NOx emission and excellent reliability were used.
Union Fenosa, one of the largest electric utility companies in Spain, is the owner of this plant and supplies the electricity through CFE's grid. Tuxpan #3 & #4 power plant has been constructed in the Tuxpan area, about 250 km north-east of Mexico City in the State of Veracruz, and uses the same design philosophy as the previous EPC projects of Tuxpan 2 and Altamira 2 combined cycle power plants. All of the plants were successfully taken over, meeting the guaranteed performance and emission levels with no delays. It is viewed that the combined cycle power plants designed, built, and set up by MHI contribute greatly to the establishment of reliable and stable power sources in Mexico.
