Philippine
/ KEILCO Ilijan 1,251MW Combined Cycle Power Plant |
|
The first power plant outside of Japan with Mitsubishi
Advanced Gas Turbine M501G began commercial operation at Ilijan,
Philippines on May 31, 2002. The Ilijan Project has successfully
achieved the guaranteed performance levels, and was handed over
to the Owner, KEILCO (KEPCO Ilijan Corporation), which is a subsidiary
of KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation), Mirant, Kyusyu Electric
Power Co., Inc. and Mitsubishi Corporation.
After taken over by KEILCO, the Ilijan Power Plant is continuously
operating at full load without problem.
This Project, located at Ilijan, Batangas (South of Luzon Island),
with the total output of 1,251MW, will provide power for Philippine
grid to fill the need of electricity.
MHI supplied the total power train equipment including four (4)
M501G Gas Turbines and two (2) Steam Turbines. The M501G is the
most advanced gas turbine in the world, which uses steam for the
cooling of combustor walls, where cooling air is used in other
Gas Turbines.
The first M501G unit started operation in 1997 at the Takasago
in-house combined cycle power plant owned and operated by MHI.
The unit has been in commercial operation for more than 5 years,
selling its output to the Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc.
Both the high availability and reliability record of the M501G
has been welcomed by the customer market and making MHI a leader
in gas turbine technology.
More and more M501G Gas Turbine Power Plants are scheduled to put
into commercial operation in the US starting this year.
