Commercial Operations Begin at Ghazlan Power Plant II Unit 6 in Saudi Arabia

August 28, the Saudi Electricity Company Eastern Region Branch (SEC-ERB) Ghazlan electric power generation plant phase II (630,000 kW x 4 units) completed a 30 day continued RTR of unit 6(reliability test run) and begun commercial operation.
The same day, the client and our members gathered at the central control room and celebrated - with "banzai" calls - the count-down for operations to start at 2PM.
This unit is our second system of the 4 units since unit 5 which started operations on June 11. The new units will be under one year guaranteed operations by us, and then handed over to the client.
Construction and test operations for unit 7 (projected for completion in next January) and unit 8 (projected for completion in next June) are currently under rapid preparation under the severe heat exceeding 40 degrees C everyday. The 4 units of the Ghazlan plant being put into full operation will supply a total of approximately one fourth of Saudi Arabia eastern province's electric power demand, and in fact will become the country's largest power plant.
