Rock River I wind farm, in which MHI supplied 50 units of 1000kW wind turbine located near Laramie, Wyoming USA, was started in commercial operation on November 9th 2001. This is the first project of 1000 KW machine for U.S. This site is near the Foote Creek windfarm, which has 100units of MHI 600 KW wind turbines in operation since 1999. These machines of both wind farm are now running in good condition under tough climatic conditions that there are strong winds throughout the year, with temperatures dropping down to minus 30 degrees centigrade during winter season. Rock River I windfarm has been constructed by SeaWest Windpower Inc., a giant US wind farm developer, under supervision of MHI engineers and is owned by Rock River I LLC, a subsidiary of Shell WindEnergy Inc.. This windfarm will produce enough clean energy for more than 13,000 average homes in the West of US, while offsetting approximately 164,000 tons of greenhouse gases per year. ![]() Rock River I windfarm |
