Wind turbine Generator System with PMSG in Rishiri Kamui, Japan



On the 6th of November, a completion ceremony was held for 250kW-wind turbine generator system with PMSG (Permanent magnet synchronous generator) at "Rishiri Kamui wind power station" (located in Rishiri Island, northern part of Hokkaido) owned by Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Inc.
This system was developed aiming to improve in efficiency, noise reduction, power fluctuation and maintainability.
Using the variable rotating speed system with a PMSG and AC-DC-AC link system, we achieve a high efficiency in the low wind-speed region and stable power output over the rated wind speed.
Because of stable power output and other characteristic advantages, this system made it possible to connect small grid even under high wind fluctuation.
