MHI's Newly Developed UEC52LSE First Engine in Operation

MHI had started operation of the 6UEC52LSE, the first marine-use diesel engine in the UEC-LSE series, at the Nagasaki Factory of Kobe Diesel Co., Ltd., a licensee of Mitsubishi UE engines. This engine's official on-land test was carried out on April 24 and 25, and the performance of the engine was successfully confirmed. After completion of test, the engines were installed in four 1,100 TEU model container vessels built by Shin Kochi Juko Co., Ltd.
The UEC52LSE, developed by MHI, is a new engine with Pme (mean effective pressure) of approximately 1.9 Mpa. The engines started operation at the end of March. In the following month, special test was carried out, including measurements of temperature in the fuel chamber and the stress on various parts, and then official on-land test operation was successfully implemented in the presence of shipowner, PIL (Pacific International Lines) of Singapore.
MHI has already completed development of the UEC68LSE engine, a larger model in the LSE series, and is now proceeding with several promising sales opportunities.
The main specifications of the UEC52LSE engine are as follows:

Main Specifications
Bore: 520 mm
Stroke: 2,000 mm
Engine output: 10,230 kW
