135 MW Diesel Power Plant Completed for Pakistan Japan Power Generation |

On August 5, 2000, a grand
completion ceremony was held for the Pakistan Japan Power Generation (JPG) 135
MW diesel power plant (18KU30A (5,650 kW) x 24 units) in a suburban area Lahore,
the second-largest city in Pakistan. More than 600 persons affiliated with the
project attended.
Among the guests were Governor
Kahn of the Hydropower Ministry, special ambassador to Pakistan His Excellency
Numata, and Mr. Suehiro, Deputy General Manager of MHI's Yokohama Dockyard &
Machinery Works. His Excellency Numata gave his congratulations, saying, "During
over 50 years of friendly relations, Japan has made obvious contributions, especially
in the field of power generation. The completion of JPG's diesel power plant is
the fruit of cooperation between our countries, and will become a valuable asset."
The operation of this power
plant was started by JPG, an independent power producer (IPP), in March of last
year. MHI plans to provide continuous support in cooperating for its sound operation.
