| MHI Delivers First Cargo Door For Airbus A380 |

Tokyo, October 6, 2003 -- Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has delivered
the first cargo door for the Airbus A380, the most advanced airliner under development
and in production today. The shipment left Nagoya on October 2nd, 2003.
MHI is responsible for the production and final assembly of both lower deck cargo doors, forward and aft. The doors are manufactured at MHI's Nagoya Aerospace Systems Works, based in Oye, near Nagoya, in Aichi prefecture, East Japan. MHI started working on the A380 program on late 2001. The production of details parts started at the beginning of 2003, and the first completed door has been delivered per schedule. The initial shipment is a special version of the forward cargo door to be used in the first test-flight airplane. MHI is already working in other Airbus programs, and has been successfully supplying shroud boxes for the A319/A320 family airplane since 2000, and the aft cargo door for A330/340 family since 2002. # # #
