Frequently Asked Questions

QuestionWhat types of exhibits are there at the museum?
AnswerThe museum introduces visitors to the latest technologies in an approachable way through impressive exhibits of actual machines, large-scale models and experience-based exhibits based on seven themes: Aerospace, Ocean, Transportation, Daily Life Discovery, Environment / Energy, Technology Quest and The History of Vehicles. Trial Square, which offers experience-based exhibits by reservation only, is also popular.
QuestionHow long does it take to see everything at the museum?
AnswerIt takes between one and one and a half hours, although it depends on you. More time may be needed if you use exhibits at Trial Square.
QuestionWhat age range is the museum aimed at?
AnswerEveryone from elementary students to adults can enjoy the experience. We recommended the museum for 4th grade elementary school students and older.
QuestionIs the museum wheelchair accessible?
AnswerAn elevator is available. Please ask one of our staff for assistance. There are also restrooms for people in wheelchairs.
As the museum is barrier-free, visitors in wheelchairs can visit without hindrance.
QuestionHow can we make reservations for activities at Trial Square?
AnswerYou can make a reservation at the 2nd floor reception after entering the museum on the day. (Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.)
Note that reservations are made differently for Space Project and Sky Walk Adventure. Please see the respective page to make reservations.
QuestionHow much are the admission fees?
AnswerRegular admission fees are 500 yen for adults, 300 yen for junior and senior high school students and 200 yen for elementary school students.

QuestionAre discounts available for people with disabilities?
AnswerIf you present your ID or certificate at the reception, you and your attendants will be admitted for free.
QuestionWhen is the museum closed?
AnswerThe museum is closed on every Tuesday (following day if Tuesday is a national holiday), at the year-end and New Year, and on specified closed days.
QuestionAre parking spaces available?
AnswerThe building has pay parking in the basement with space for 463 vehicles (¥250 for 30 minutes).
Free parking spaces for buses are also available for group visitors (advance reservation required, only available during museum visiting time). We recommend making a reservation as early as possible because spaces are limited.
QuestionIs there somewhere I can park my bicycle?
AnswerThe area around the museum is a parking prohibited zone. Kindly use a nearby bicycle lot.
QuestionIs there a place to stow strollers?
AnswerWhile there is no dedicated place to stow strollers, feel free to speak with the first floor reception, who can accept your stroller for safekeeping.
QuestionAre there any facilities serving food?
AnswerAlthough there are no facilities serving food inside the museum, visitors are free to leave and reenter the museum any number of times on the same day.
QuestionIs there a place to buy souvenirs?
AnswerThe Museum Shop is located on the 1st floor, and carries a wide range that includes space goods such as space food and space pens, craft kits, precision models of ships and airplanes, not to mention original goods.
You are, of course, welcome to visit only the Museum Shop, if you wish.
